WHY MADE IN THE USA MATTERS
From the mid 90's to the early 2000's American soft goods manufacturing was decimated by a series of international trade deals. China's entry into the WTO and NAFTA both created an environment where it was more profitable to manufacture abroad as opposed to domestically. Southern California was, at one point, an international hub for fashion, apparel and other cut and sew product manufacturing. Within a few years it was all gone.
For 20 years, we as Americans, have consumed artificially cheap products and slowly bled off our intellectual property, industrial base and skilled labor to other countries. The Covid-19 Pandemic has shown us how delicate our global economy is and just how dependent the United States has become on cheap foreign labor. We have outsourced our talent and technology abroad for the sake of short term profit. In the blink of an eye the virus has brought this to light.
Our goal is to play a small part in rebuilding the manufacturing eco system in the US. Its starts small, like planting a seed, and we are hoping to grow it into a self sustaining garden. By manufacturing here, the costs go up and the time to delivery is slower, but your purchase is the water and sunlight we need to bear fruit.
